India, the UN and Global Diplomacy: Reflections from Indian Diplomat Siddharth Mali

Join us for a conversation with Mr. Siddharth Malik, Consul General of India in Edinburgh, on his experience at the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York between 2019 and 2021.

Drawing on his experience at the United Nations, Mr. Malik will offer insights into India’s engagement with the multilateral system and its important role in addressing global challenges. The discussion will explore India’s contribution to international environmental diplomacy, including its work on South-South cooperation, biodiversity, and climate change. Mr. Malik will also reflect on India’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council during the COVID-19 pandemic, the experience of negotiating in the United Nations, and the challenges and opportunities facing the UN and the multilateral system in the years ahead.
