Introduction to Campaigning Course

Is your New Year's resolution to get more involved with campaigning for a better world?

Lots of people tell us that they want to make a difference in their community and take climate action but sometimes don’t know where or how to start. That’s where our new Introduction to Campaigning course comes in.

It will cover everything from what a campaign is and how to choose an issue to work on, to the basics of finding allies and planning your tactics. This course is designed to skill you up and give you the confidence to find your place in the climate movement.

The training sessions will take place online between now and May 2021. The first one - Introduction to Campaigning: Firststeps - will be on Wednesday 27th January from 6-8pm.

You can sign up to all the events or choose the events that you are most interested in. The whole course will be free to attend and is open to everyone.

While 2021 is off to a very difficult start, it is going to be a big year for people and the planet. Here in Scotland there will be an election, ongoing work to ensure the Coronavirus recovery plans create a greener, fairer country, and the UN Climate Summit is coming to Glasgow in November.

With the eyes of the world on Scotland’s climate action this year, we have a real opportunity to make progress towards building a better society.

For example, would you like to like to see less cars outside the local school? Or a reduction in plastic waste? An end to North Sea oil and gas? Does your pension fund still invest in fossil fuel companies? Are you not sure, you just want to do something?

It can be daunting thinking about where to begin with climate action but the great thing is that there are lots of ways you can get engaged. This is the perfect time to get involved in some lockdown learning and make 2021 the year you come together to take action for real change.

We know that people-powered campaigning and activism is the key to achieving a greener and fairer future for us all. That's why it is so vital that lots of people get involved and begin winning your campaigns!
