On 8 December, 2017, UNHS hosted "Peace is the Prize", a celebration of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapon's (ICAN) Nobel Peace Prize win. Human Trafficking in Scotland: An Overview of Legislation and Figures

In the last few years, the Scottish government has earnestly addressed the issues of human trafficking and exploitation within the country. Previously, Scotland and the United Kingdom did not have specific legislation nor single definition for human trafficking and exploitation, which made it difficult to prosecute such crimes. Within Scotland, the issues were dealt with under the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003, and Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. Belgian Prime Minister and Former NATO Sec-Gen Endorse Nuclear Ban

This week, Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme and former NATO Secretary General Willy Claes published a joint op-ed showing support for the UN Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, and called on the government to remove US nuclear weapons from Belgian soil. During the week of 4 December 2017, UNHS was thrilled to host a stall at Scottish Parliament, sharing our work to promote and achieve the SDGs in Scotland. We were thrilled to have significant interest from MSPs and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Model United Nations (MUN) #FirstforFife Report: 5 things we can all learn from 11 year olds

On St. Andrew's Day, 30th November 2017, United Nations House Scotland (UNHS) hosted the first ever MUN (Model United Nations) for Primary Schools in Fife #FirstforFife, at the prestigious Broomhall House. If you have never heard of MUN before, fear not! You have come to the right place. MUN is part of a Global Citizenship educational programme where students role-play as country delegates, debating and seeking to solve global issues. The event saw the coming together of 5 primary schools, 30 kids aged 10-12 acting as country representatives discussing the issue of ‘how to solve the Global Migrant Crisis’.
