Just Transition Partnership's online conference: Friends of the Earth Scotland

Join Friends of the Earth Scotland for the Just Transition Partnership's online conference

. Climate, Jobs, Justice: Making the Just Transition Happen Thursday 2nd September 11.30am – 3.30pm Online A conference about why we need a just transition away from fossil fuels and what has to be done about it. Action to stop climate emissions can create good jobs and improve everyone’s lives. But if it is done wrongly, it could harm workers and communities currently reliant on fossil fuel jobs. Justice has to be built in - a just transition is essential to ensure we create a fairer Scotland and increase support for climate action! The event includes speakers from the environmental and trade union movement who will expose the greenwash from governments which talk about just transition but aren’t delivering it. We’ll hear how business-as-usual is failing, and how public controls can steer the economy so that our planet and our people can be protected.

With the UN climate talks in Glasgow in November, this is the time and the place for these debates. We’ll hear from keynote speakers from around the world and draw on the experiences of the Just Transition Partnership - set up by Friends of the Earth Scotland and Scottish Trade Union Congress. Speakers confirmed:

Sharan Burrow, General Secretary, ITUC Dipti Bhatnagar, Friends of the Earth International Roz Foyer, Scottish Trade Union Congress Asad Rehman, War on Want and COP26 Coalition Mary Church, FoE Scotland and COP26 Coalition Mika Minio-Palluelo, Transition Economics Laurie Macfarlane, economist, UCL Sean Sweeney, Trade Unions for Energy Democracy Matthew Crighton, Just Transition Partnership We hope that you can join us for this exciting event. Attendance is free and open to all.

Thanks,
